Update 4/29/14

Lots has been going on.

Yesterday, Shelly and Lanny were guests on the Dave Congalton local radio show. They chatted with Dave from 4 – 5 PM about the neighborhood concerns for the proposed development of the Sunny Acres Historical Building and the surrounding area. The topics included questions about the lack of neighborhood input solicited by the County, the City and Transitions; the best use of the wonderful property with its beautiful views; the lack of a master plan by the County and City; the potential for other uses that would provide benefit to a broader number of residents of the community; the concerns of local neighbors of the risks of having mentally ill patients passing through the neighborhoods while walking to public transportation, downtown and to the Growing Grounds as well as other topics.  Shelly made the point that our neighborhood concerns are not with Transitions, the organization, but with this project and its location on this property. Several neighbors called in reinforcing the concerns as did several representatives of Transitions. The Audio Podcast of the show edited to only include the time when the proposed project was discussed is available on the website under Latest News on the Home page.

In addition, new letters to the City and County have been posted on the website under Letters to. Also a letter from City Councilman Dan Carpenter showing support for neighborhoods has been posted. His letter can also be linked to under Latest News.

Check out the new video of the property including views from the front steps of the building at sunset and early morning. Spectacular!

All this is helping to get the message out, but we still need more neighbors expressing their opinion and feelings to the City Council, the County Board of Supervisors and the Directors of Transition Mental Health Association. Please remember to send a copy to Shelly so that it be posted on the website.
