Letter to Adam Hill – William Neddermeyer, April 9, 2014

Good Day Mr. Hill

I just recently learned in The Tribune that plans that have been drawn to revamp the Sunny Acres site and find it very alarming that it will bring even more mentally challenged, homeless as well as individuals with addictions into San Luis Obispo community.

I’ve strolled by the San Luis Obispo mental health site on Johnson twice in the year that I’ve lived here and was asked for items, i.e. money, cigarettes and today when I go out for walks, that area of Johnson is one that I circumvent to avoid any potential issue that could arise.

Also with our new home purchase that is next to the Sunny Acres property, I have to reflect on and be very concerned with the value of our home and fellow neighbors homes, that’s if this project moves forward with helping individuals as mentioned in the article. Wouldn’t there be a better use of the property that would take advantage of the beautiful city view? I would like to see other solutions for the site that will enhance the neighborhood and bring more families to San Luis Obispo.

We as a community should find an awe-inspiring solution for Sunny Acres!

Concerned Resident,
William Neddermeyer
