Not-so Sunny Acres

I find it curious that Transitions-Mental Health Association is moving forward with plans to use the former Sunny Acres building in San Luis Obispo as housing for the mentally ill. Currently, the mentally ill are transitioning back into society in typical housing within residential neighborhoods.
To me, it seems that moving to a plan that segregates the mentally ill up on a hill in high-density housing will have the opposite impact of a beneficial transition and will in fact serve to alienate and segregate those individuals more than if the current smaller-scale housing model was invested in.
